"Soma" is the greek word for living body. It refers to all levels of our being -- physical, emotional, energetic, mental etc.
Somatics is a holisitc and bottom-up approach to transformation. Instead of a cognitive (head-based) focus, we put our attention to body sensations, emotions, movements, etc.

There will be resourcing practices as part of our framework in each meeting. Participants are recommended to come in to this group program with a foundation of body awareness. The intention of this program is to practice on purpose, in a container designed for awareness building and to build new skills... not to stimulate catharsis.
Previous participants report feeling surprised at "how effective the program is. The concepts seem simple, and the associated movements are not complex." Yet it impacted them in ways that reshaped their nervous system.
Our meetings are 90-minutes. Each week you will be asked to practice for 5-10 minutes daily on your own.
Our content progresses each week, so it is recommend to practice what we learn in our time together. Participants who commit to their practices report the most changes.
There will be prompts from me. We will frequently do "mood checks" which is 1-2 word description of how you're feeling in that moment. There will be debriefs post practices, which are invitations to share what you noticed from the practice. In general the invitation is to share what you feel, rather than to analyze. Some will be more structured, others more open-ended like "what did you notice? what did practice reveal to you? how is that familiar ... or not? " There may also be some break-out rooms, where participants will be partnered with each other, and structure will be given to those practices and debriefs.
In general with somatic coaching (which is different from somatic therapy), it is recommended to be in a steadier season of life.
If you're navigating big and stressful transitions in your life, or don't have time and space to practice this may not be the season for this program. I trust you will know what's right for you.
