Questions
Everything people usually want to know before reaching out. If your question isn't here, just ask.
For people who practice leadership in all forms: at work, at home, and in your community. If you're someone with a solid track record who has impact and cares about your ripple effect, I'd love to work with you. Most of the people I work with are either in the thick of building something, or standing on the other side of a chapter that's already closed. This isn't for people looking for a quick fix, and it isn't a replacement for therapy or medical care.
Start by getting in touch through the contact page and saying a little about what's going on. If it sounds like a fit, I'll send you an application. A conversation follows from there, once we both have a sense of whether the work makes sense right now.
No. No somatic background is required, just curiosity and a willingness to pay attention to your own experience. Many people arrive having never done this kind of work before.
Say so when you get in touch. Describing what's going on is more useful than picking a product. The right container is usually obvious once the situation is clear. The free 5 Day Somatic Reset is also a low-stakes way to try the work first.
A body-first approach to change. Instead of working only with thoughts and mindset, it draws on sensation, breath, posture, movement and emotion, so a new way of leading or living becomes something your body can actually do under pressure, not just something you understand.
“Soma” is the Greek word for living body. Somatics refers to all levels of our being: physical, emotional, energetic, mental. It's a holistic, bottom-up approach to transformation: instead of a purely cognitive focus, we attend to body sensations, emotions, and movement.
Somatic Experiencing is a body-based approach developed by Dr. Peter Levine for working with stress and nervous-system patterns. Rather than revisiting a story in detail, it works gently with sensation to help the nervous system process and release what's stuck. I'm trained in Somatic Experiencing and also offer it as single sessions.
We slow down enough for your body to be part of the conversation. That usually means noticing sensation, breath, posture and impulse as you talk about what's actually going on, then practicing a new way of being with it, in real time, rather than only discussing it. You stay clothed, you stay in charge, and nothing happens that you haven't agreed to.
Therapy often works backward to understand and heal what happened. Somatic coaching works forward: it builds the physical capacity to hold the life or leadership you're moving toward. My work is not a substitute for therapy or medical care, and many people do both.
Traditional executive coaching usually works at the level of strategy, skills and behavior: what to do differently. Somatic coaching works one layer beneath that: the physical patterns that decide whether you can actually do it when the pressure is on. Many people find the insight was never the missing piece. The two aren't in competition. I've worked one-on-one with executives, though not as a traditional executive coach — my work with them has been through the body. That's often what reaches the part strategy can't: what happens in you under pressure, rather than what you know you should do.
Sessions include resourcing practices. The intention is to practice on purpose and build new skills, not to stimulate catharsis. Past participants often report being surprised at how effective the work is even though the concepts and movements are simple.
The 5-month 1:1 somatic coaching container is virtual, so we can work together from anywhere in the world. I also offer in-person immersives and intensives in Santa Barbara and Los Altos, California, subject to availability, and retreats run in person in California and around the world.
1:1 somatic coaching is $600/month over five months, or $3,000 paid in full. Group programs start at $375 and day retreats at $395.
1:1 somatic coaching is $600/month over five months, or $3,000 paid in full, with a minimum commitment of 13 sessions. Single Somatic Experiencing sessions are $150. Group programs start at $375, workshops at $95, and day retreats at $395. The All-In 10-Week Transformation starts at $4,500 every 4 weeks. The 5 Day Somatic Reset is free.
An initial 90-minute intake session, then three 60-minute sessions per month, plus 5–10 minutes daily of integration practice between sessions. All 13 sessions are used within five months of the initial payment.
For 1:1 coaching, a minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session. Sessions are non-transferable and there are no refunds. Retreat registrations are non-refundable but can be transferred to someone else.
Many people feel something shift in the first session. Durable change — the kind that holds when pressure returns — is what the longer containers are built for.
Somatics for resourcing, awareness-building and resilience is generally supportive at any time. But working toward embodied transformation, developing new embodied skills, requires energy. If you're navigating big, stressful transitions or don't have time and space to practice, this may not be the right season.
No. Coaching is not therapy or medical care, and it isn't a substitute for either. If you're in acute crisis, or looking for clinical treatment, a licensed therapist or physician is the right place to start. Many people do coaching and therapy alongside each other.
Share any limiting factors in advance. Practices are adaptable, and in group and retreat settings everything is beginner-friendly and optional. No deep knee bends, no strong shoulder stretches, nothing upside down.
